If you asked me why I write the kind of books I write, I'd tell you it's because of all those nights, years ago, when my kids were little and we'd snuggle together at the end of the day with a book between us. The lights turned low, everything slowing down, nowhere else to be. Those were some of my favorite moments as a mom, and I think some of theirs too.

When I put pencil to paper, those are the stories that seem to find me on their own. I think it’s my subconscious chasing memories… of when my mother read to me and when I read to my children. Sometimes my stories are an adventure or a silly laugh. But at their heart, they’re always a warm little world families can crawl into together at the end of a long day.

It turns out I'm not alone in feeling this way. There's real research on why reading together matters so much, and not just for kids, but for parents too. It reduces stress. It builds warmth. It helps parents and children feel truly connected, even after the hardest days.

I love knowing that the stories I write aren't just entertainment. They're an excuse to slow down and be close to the people we love most.

If you ever want to dig into the "why" behind it all, here are a few wonderful resources I've come across:

So tonight, if you can, turn off the noise, grab a book, and snuggle with your little one. You're giving them, and yourself, something more valuable and long-lasting than you know.

And hopefully, one day… it will be one of my books you’re reading to your little one.
